Melodic Fusion: Cynthia Tauro and Brendan Canning’s Creative Journey
Cynthia Tauro and Brendan Canning (of Broken Social Scene) first crossed paths at the Field Trip Festival in 2022. Their instant creative chemistry led to a songwriting partnership rooted in connection and ease. Together, they’ve collaborated with notable writers and producers, including Kintaro Akiyama, Moose (Spencer Muscio), Juwayon Clarke, and Josh Trager.
Cynthia, a Carleton University graduate with an honors degree in jazz piano, has worked with a diverse array of artists such as Little Scream, Robi Botos, Larnell Lewis, and members of Broken Social Scene. She debuted her first album, Moments, in 2018, followed by two successful singles and a 2019 fall tour. Now, Cynthia is focused on her new project, TAURO, where she continues to explore and release fresh music with her band.
Brendan Canning is best known as the co-founder of Canada’s iconic indie collective, Broken Social Scene. Alongside Kevin Drew and a dynamic roster of members, Brendan has achieved international acclaim, earning Juno Awards and gracing major stages like Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza, as well as appearances on major late-night shows.
Together, Cynthia and Brendan have released two singles that have been warmly received by major radio outlets, including KEXP, KCRW, and CBC Radio Canada. Their partnership marks an exciting chapter for both artists, blending their unique talents into something truly special.
